 Great Feathers fly shop was established in 1993 in Sparks, Maryland. Our brick and mortar fly fishing store is located in Baltimore County right next to the Gunpowder River State Park. The Gunpowder River is one of the top 5 tailwater rivers in the United States and provides you and us with the pleasures of fly fishing and outfitting sportsmen like you. Our fly shop is complemented with a user friendly online shopping website that offers a large selection of fly fishing supplies, gear and tying material.
Our store is staffed by fly fishermen and fly tiers with a strong obsession for the sport. Our team is comprised of people with strong roots in fly fishing based on experience and a lot of fun. Here is the core of our team:
Mike Watriss
 Mike was born on the banks of Western Run and has been fishing the many wild trout streams around here for over 30 years. An accomplished and award winning decoy carver, Mike's passions include art, fly fishing, and golf. Mike handles most of our schools and guiding. In his 15th year at this location Mike has the same passion for the sport and serving customers with the best equipment and materials as the day he opened.
Dave Budniakiewicz
 As a Maryland hatchling, Dave got his first fishing experience using a “Snoopy” Zebco reel & pole and fishing for bass in Deep Creek Lake, MD. Since then, he has become an avid fly fisherman and fly tier. His trips range from the rivers in Oregon, California, New York, North Carolina and Florida. But usually Dave spends most of his time catching trout on the Gunpowder River with periodic trips to the Salmon River near Syracuse, NY for some serious steelhead fly fishing.
Robby Lepczyk
 Robby was born and raised in northern Baltimore County fishing his local cold water and warm water fisheries, for brown trout, large and small mouth bass, as well as carp and shad. Robby has been fly fishing and shooting since he could walk, and tying flies since he was eleven. He has also traveled North America fishing and hunting, from Montana to the Yucatan, New Mexico to Nova Scotia and points in between.
Robby "eats, drinks and sleeps" fly fishing. You can ask him any questions and he's got the answer or at least an opinion.
Jack, "Shop Dog"
 Jack is Robby’s 6 year old English Setter, although he now eats more sandwiches than points birds, he still enjoys to sniff the Grouse skins and will always welcome you at the front door with a wagging tail.
